UI/UX Designs: Story of a Better Digital Appearance

UI/UX Design: the term we often instantly associate with websites and apps. UI or User Interface designers are literally the new age needs of this digital era. And with increase in knowledge and skills, the designs you see these days are much simpler to use and optimized, and UI designers had their credits due for the same.

The term User experience(UX) was first composed by the Cognitive psychologist and designer Don Norman in the year 1990.

It was literally everywhere, from text on a screen, to a fully-functional graphical user interface (GUI). It’s the responsibility of a UX designer to help people make sense of their technology and what it can do to make their life better. In the early era of computing, that meant teaching them how to use windows, tabs, and icons, in the contemporary era, it means making the most out of a (relatively) tiny screen and touch gestures.

Skeuomorphism was assumed that it started with the iPhone but it didn’t. In fact, in a sense skeuomorphism was truly one of the first design philosophies applied to a computer system. In case you remember Windows 3.1, in 1992, the design philosophy was basically skeuomorphic, although crude by modern standards. Your files were saved in little folders. And in order to print anything, you have to click on a little picture of a printer. The UX designs were so simple and straightforward that each and every mind can easily understand and be able to work with it.

Difference between UI and UX designs

• UI design is all about developing intuitive, aesthetically beautiful, interactive interfaces, while UX design is focused about recognizing and solving user problems.
• The user experience (UX) is usually the initial step in the product development process, followed by the user interface (UI).
• The user journey is mapped out by the UX designer, who then fills it in with visual and interactive features by the UI designer.
• UX can be applied to any product, service, or experience, whereas UI is only applicable to digital products and experiences.

A good UX Design is goal-driven and user-centered. People will notice the value in your product if it can help them meet their needs, and they will be loyal to it, making it stand out among competitors.

It makes a strong first impression, makes your business easy for new customers to navigate, increases your company’s value, boosts sales, builds a relationship with the customer.
